Property management is a people business.

Yes …. Systems matter, processes matter, and compliance certainly matters.

But ultimately, great property management comes down to people — how they’re led, how they’re trained, how they communicate and whether they’ve been given the tools and confidence to do their job well.

I’ve spent more than three decades in property management, from the front line through to business ownership, consulting, coaching, training and senior operational leadership.

I’ve managed both large and small portfolios. I’ve built and restructured teams. I’ve worked through difficult markets, numerous legislative changes, staffing challenges, growth, shrinking margins and more than a few situations where the textbook answer wasn’t much help.

That experience has taught me something pretty simple:

The overwhelming majority of property management “problems” are solvable.

Sometimes you just need someone outside the business who knows where to look, knows the questions to ask and isn’t afraid to challenge the way things have always been done.

Experience is useful; knowing what to do with it is even more so.

I’ve worked in property management long enough to remember when a fax machine was considered cutting-edge technology.

Over the years I’ve worked as a property manager, business owner, consultant, coach, trainer and senior people and operations leader. 

I’ve built teams, rebuilt teams, managed restructures, guided teams through change, and helped businesses and business owners navigate some fairly challenging periods.

What I bring today isn’t simply years in the industry.

It’s the ability to look at a business, a team or a problem and see what’s really going on underneath it.

To ask the question that perhaps hasn’t been asked.

To simplify something that’s become unnecessarily complicated.

And to help people find a practical way forward.
