How I work ...

I’m not particularly interested in management jargon, complicated frameworks for the sake of having a framework, or producing impressive-looking reports that nobody ever opens again.
I like conversations.
I like challenging assumptions — including my own.
I’ll tell you what I think, but I’ll also tell you when I don’t know.
And if I think there’s a simpler way of doing something, there’s also a fair chance that I’ll ask why you’re making life so bloody difficult for yourself.
Always respectfully, of course.
Mostly.
What matters to me is that whatever we do together makes a genuine difference once you get back to work.
Because that’s the point.

Experience matters, Perspective matters more

Over the years I’ve managed property management businesses ranging from start-ups to operations approaching 2,000 properties.
I’ve taught industry practice through the Real Estate Institute of Victoria, the TAFE system and national franchise networks. I’ve worked within major real estate brands, owned and operated my own business, coached and mentored property professionals and advised business owners and leaders.
I’ve also worked through several generations of legislation, technology, industry change and the occasional government announcement that has caused property managers across Victoria to collectively reach for the aspirin.
All of that experience is useful.
But I don’t believe experience gives anyone the right to walk into a business and announce how everything should be done.
Every business is different.
Every team is different.
And every person sitting across the table from me brings their own experience too.
My job is to listen first, understand what’s really happening, ask some good questions and then help find a practical way forward.

Still curious?

If you’re looking for someone who’ll arrive with a generic ten-step program and tell you precisely how your business should operate before they’ve taken the time to understand it, I’m probably not your person.
If you’re looking for someone with substantial experience who’ll listen, ask questions, challenge where appropriate and work alongside you to make your people, your processes or your business better, then we should probably have a conversation.
No hard sell. No obligation. Let’s see where the conversation takes us.
